Re-purpose Garden Fence To Railing

So excited to tell you about this project!!!
This is my rustic re-purposed garden fence railing project, it includes the stairway and the loft that is our home office.  It has been a long road, months of going up and down stairs with no railing, I avoided going upstairs, it gave me a very insecure feeling so I moved my computer to another part of the house.

This was the railing before, the spacing to far apart and very low.

We carefully remove the railing.

We had new newel post made and gave them a coat of primer, followed by few coats of paint

Just one more mess in my house.

All newel posts installed... it's starting to get exciting!!!

I found this wonderful old garden fence on Craig's List for $125.00, what a great price, it would make a beautiful railing for our loft and stairway.

We brought a section of railing up to see how it would look and measured to see where cuts needed to be made and where length needed to be added

Our friend Daniel who is an amazing artist cut the fence to size  and welded on attachment pieces.

Daniel duplicated  the fence to make new stair railing, I think he did an amazing job...

Next step sanding, priming and painting.

I love the Brushed Metallic spray paint from Krylon, I always have a can of the brushed bronze on hand.
First I sprayed with the bronze and then a hint of the canyon color, the result... a hand rubbed oiled look.

I love that the old character still shows through.

The moment we have been waiting for, installing the railing.

My husband Bob and son Grant did an wonderful job.

We are thrilled with the final look of our project!

I am so excited to spent more time in our new home office.
I hope this inspired you to re-purpose at your house, I would love to hear all about your projects.

Blessings,  Julie
